A TARGET has been set for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan to become clean, healthy, advanced, safe and eco-friendly (CHASE).

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa said this would be achieved through two programmes, Sejahtera@WP and Puji@WP.

“Sejahtera@WP has six components, namely economic development, smart and sustainable city, socio-economic balance, environment preservation and restoration, digital cultivation as well as sustainable tourism.

“Puji@WP, which stands for Program Usaha Jaya Insan, also has six components that aim to increase the income level of breadwinners,” she said in her speech at Majlis Aspirasi 2024 at Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) Complex in Putrajaya.

The six Puji@WP components will focus on skills training and career opportunities, aid to increase household income and reduce the cost of living, social insurance for high risk groups, ownership opportunities for affordable homes, access to education for B40 groups, quality health services as well as infrastructure access, especially for Labuan residents.

“These programmes aim to boost the country’s economic growth, accelerate structural reforms as well as improve the people’s quality of life.

“They would help create jobs that will elevate residents’ socio-economic status,” said Dr Zaliha.

She also presented some of the achievements of the three Federal Territories.

“Kuala Lumpur contributed RM200bil to the country’s gross domestic product and ranked sixth in the list of most visited cities in 2023, according to the Global Destination City Index.

“Labuan contributed RM1bil to the country’s GDP while the financial market had expanded 10-fold,” she said.

Also present were Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Kamarulzaman Mat Salleh, PPj president Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud and Labuan Corporation chief executive officer Rithuan Ismail.

Separately, PPj launched Nadi Putra bus monthly passes available from next month.

Nadi10 costs RM10 and is for Malaysians who are senior citizens, people with disabilities as well as primary and secondary schoolchildren.

Nadi30, which costs RM30, is for Malaysians not in these categories.
