Empowering communities through education

Throughout last year, a foundation was engaged in uplifting educational institutions and fostering community development through its diverse projects and initiatives.

One of Eco World Foundation’s significant endeavours in 2023 was the Special Projects for Schools initiative under its Student Aid Programme (SAP).

It focused on schools in need of basic facility upgrades, aiming to enhance the learning environment for students.

Through the SAP, the foundation ensures that students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, have access to essential resources and infrastructure conducive to their academic growth.

Under this initiative, the foundation had undertaken several impactful projects.

Last September, at SK Seri Perling 2 in Johor Baru, the foundation constructed a 50m covered walkway and waiting shelter, facilitating safer and more comfortable access for students, especially during inclement weather.

The project was undertaken in collaboration with Eco Botanic (an EcoWorld Malaysia township).

In October, the foundation, along with EcoWorld Malaysia’s northern division, enhanced the infrastructure at SJK (C) Convent Datuk Keramat in Penang.

Through the installation of a larger signboard, landscaping works and the creation of an edible garden, the foundation improved the school’s visibility and created a more conducive learning environment.

In November, the foundation’s collaboration with Eco Ardence in Setia Alam, Shah Alam, led to the expansion of SJK (T) Ladang North Hummock’s canteen.

Eco World Foundation is also committed to providing essential resources to schools, ensuring students have access to quality learning materials and facilities through the donation of desks and chairs to schools like SJK (C) Ping Ming in Johor and SK Bandar Rinching in Selangor.

Apart from this, 13 dialogue sessions with parents were held.

The platform enabled parents of students supported by the foundation to raise issues faced in their children’s education.

Eco World Foundation chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the foundation was dedicated to creating opportunities for students to thrive academically and socially.

Last year, seven tertiary students supported by the foundation graduated from local institutions of higher learning.

“We are greatly aware of the importance of corporate social responsibility in promoting community engagement and fostering meaningful partnerships between businesses and educational institutions,” he said.

By leveraging strategic partnerships and innovative solutions, the foundation would be a driving force for positive change in the educational landscape, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to unlock his or her full potential, said Lee.
