Johor on track to deliver 30,000 affordable housing units

Mohd Jafni says state government is targeting to build 5,000 affordable housing units this year.

THE state government’s plan to provide 30,000 affordable homes by 2026 is on track, says Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor.

The housing and local government committee chairman added that the state government also planned to launch Rumah Makmur Johor (RMJ) this year, along with two People’s Housing Programme (PPR) developments.

“In the past two years, we managed to build around 13,000 affordable homes.

“This year, we target to provide another 5,000 units and the remaining units within the next two years.

“Some of the ongoing projects are Residensi Iskandar Puteri, which is priced around RM150,000 for B40 families with about 2,000 units on offer,” he said.

Mohd Jafni added that the state government would also be handing over keys to PPR Permas and PPR Ulu Tiram tenants.

“The next PPR that we will introduce this year is PPR Bandar Tenggara and we expect to launch PPR Pengerang in April.

“However, the details are still with the Local Government Ministry (KPKT) and we are waiting for the official handover to the state government.”

Ongoing technical works were also being conducted at PR1MA Residensi Larkin Indah, expected to be completed early this year, he said.

“There are 1,174 units available for this project which will cater to M40 families.”

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi was also expected to launch 2,000 RMJ units this month, he said.

“The project is under Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor (KPRJ) and will cater to both B40 and M40 families.”

Mohd Jafni said there were also ongoing affordable housing projects in Kluang, Kota Tinggi, Mersing, Muar and Batu Pahat.
