Senior citizens and orphans have not been forgotten this festive season.

Gaming corporation Magnum Bhd’s charity arm, MagnumCares is welcoming the Year of the Dragon by reaching out to some 230 welfare homes nationwide with about RM800,000 worth of angpow, sponsorship and festive gifts.

“We can never know the situation or the circumstances the needy are facing until we go to the ground and put ourselves in their shoes.

“We are committed to helping our fellow Malaysians in times of need,” said Magnum Selangor and East Coast regional head Lim See Chin.

The MagnumCares team led by Lim recently visited old folks homes in Mentakab and Temerloh, Pahang.

The team handed out goodies and RM30 angpow to each of the 40 residents in addition to necessities for the facilities.

Lim said MagnumCares had also undertaken home enhancement programmes for selected charities.

MagnumCares repaired and replaced faulty essential items as well as refurbished the welfare homes to ensure residents enjoy a comfortable, safe environment throughout the year, he said.

Lim said the company had contributed over RM23mil worth of angpow and goodies to more than 600,000 senior citizens and orphans in the country since 1985.

He added that Magnum also built a therapy room for disabled children and learning areas to benefit the residents of welfare homes.
