Airport taxi service counters to be reopened before CNY

SIBU Airport taxi service counters will reopen before Chinese New Year, after a long closure.

The counters had been closed for more than five years due to the low demand for taxi service.

Sibu MP Oscar Ling shared the good news after attending a meeting with the airport management and Sibu Taxi Owners Association.

Ling said the move was to provide taxi service operations in the airport to local people and tourists.

“This initiative (taxi service counter) is very important for local or foreign tourists to get better taxi services.

“This meeting is to discuss the new year’s goal to relaunch the new taxi counter service at the airport,” he said.

Ling said an airport was a city’s door to the outside world, as well as the first impression foreign tourists have of a city.

The friendly behaviour of taxi drivers, who were responsible for receiving passengers, was also vital, he added.

“After today’s meeting, we have achieved our goal to ensure that the taxi service counters reopen before Chinese New Year for the convenience of residents and foreign tourists,” he said.
