Ampang schools made safer by infrastructure upgrades

SK Taman Bukit Teratai students can now wait comfortably under a new covered walkway.

INFRASTRUCTURE upgrades outside several schools in Ampang Jaya, Selangor, have bolstered the safety of students.

According to Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ), the upgrades, costing RM1.1mil, included road widening as well as construction of covered walkways and pedestrian lanes.

“These improvements were carried out to address traffic congestion around schools, especially during peak hours.

“The projects also covered the installation of slabs, anti-climb fencing and streetlights,” it said in a statement.

Works were carried out at SMK Taman Melawati, SK Taman Muda, SK Taman Bukit Teratai, SMK Taman Kosas and SK Ampang.

MPAJ said the funding was provided by the Economy Ministry and the Selangor Transportation Standing Committee.
