FROM Jan 10 to 14, there will be no water supply in many parts of Penang while certain areas will have low water pressure.

The supply disruption is to facilitate valve replacement work at the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant and repair work at several locations along the main pipeline.

Consumers have started purchasing plastic containers as well as bottled water.

A total of 60 static water tanks will be placed in targeted areas while Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) will deploy a fleet of 55 tankers to supply water – according to fixed schedules – to affected folk.

The Penang government has also roped in 24 voluntary fire and rescue units to supplement supply to consumers.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow had said that water supply for big non-domestic consumers in Batu Kawan, Bukit Minyak, Butterworth, Perai, George Town and Bayan Lepas FTZ would be restored within the shortest possible time frame.
