THE country’s oldest La Sallian old boys association, Old Xaverians’ Association (OXA), is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

OXA president Datuk Khoo Khay Seang said the association, founded in 1924, had always been active in corporate social responsibility programmes.

“The association also assists outstanding junior members through the OXA Education Grant,” he told Buletin Mutiara when paying a courtesy call to Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow in Komtar.

Chow lauded the association and the school for their achievements and commitment to serve society.

“The Hall of Gratitude set up at St Xavier’s Institution shows the school’s legacy,” he said.

The hall features the names of 35,000 former students including royalty from Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan and Selangor.

Chow also highlighted the state’s allocation to assist various types of schools by providing them with a more conducive environment.
