A DEPUTY minister wants the public to fully utilise the facilities of the Bandong Fitness Park in Sibu while emphasising the importance of maintaining cleanliness.

“Together, as a community, it is our responsibility to ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of this area.

“I suggest residents also plant flowers to make it more vibrant.

“This site belongs to the people, and we must have a sense of ownership to maintain and utilise it properly,” said Deputy Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.

The Bandong Fitness Park was built by the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) at a cost of RM300,000 to promote a healthy lifestyle among the local community.

Located at Jalan Bandong, the park features a dedicated path for walking, particularly for senior citizens.

Annuar, who is also Nangka assemblyman, spoke of plans for further enhancements to the park.

“I have proposed adding seating, reading spaces and a children’s playground.

“I will assist the council in upgrading facilities, especially in adding an outdoor gym,” he said at a tree-planting campaign held by SMC at the park.

A total of 15 saplings were planted at the park under the campaign.

Also present was SMC deputy chairman Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar Roseley.
