Puchong landslide: IWK takes steps to ensure sewage gets treated

INDAH Water Konsortium (IWK) Sdn Bhd is taking urgent mitigation measures at its Sewage Treatment Plant (PTG105) in Taman Wawasan, Puchong, after the landslide on Saturday (Dec 16).

After the incident, IWK promptly drained the flood water carrying mud that had flooded the affected plant, leading to damage in the sewer pipelines within its compound, it said in a statement Thursday (Dec 21).

“Clearing efforts had started since Sunday (Dec 17) and upon completion, the raw sewage will be diverted to an incoming chamber, followed by a treatment process,” said IWK.

On Saturday, Jalan Wawasan in Puchong was hit by a landslide which forced residents to evacuate their homes.

IWK said the landslide caused heavy damage to its nearby assets.

“IWK remains committed to its mandate of ensuring that sewage is treated effectively and efficiently to protect public health and provide a cleaner and safer environment for all.”
