After a four-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow’s media night finally took place.

It was certainly a night to remember as Chow belted out two classic Cantonese songs to the delight of the guests.

Chow sang Love and Passion by Liza Wang and Shanghai Beach by Frances Yip when sharing the stage with press member Wong Soon Eng.

A live band and an amusing emcee also entertained the crowd at the event in George Town.

Guests happily tucked into scrumptious dishes including chicken curry, rojak and pasembur as well as a free flow of durians.

There were rounds of fun interactive segments which included guessing and singing songs based on a short snippet.

Lucky draw prizes were handed out including flight tickets, smart watches, hotel stays, gift vouchers and a hotpot set.

In his speech, Chow said the last time he held a media night was in 2019 before the pandemic hit.

“I am so glad that we can gather again.

“It is nice to have most of you here and I want to express my appreciation for the work you do, especially, when there were elections.

“I am grateful for your contributions towards the state.”

Among those present from Star Media Group were senior news editor Alex Teng and client brand marketing general manager Simone Liong.
