AMPANG Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) will organise 17 Ramadan bazaars next year.
One new bazaar site has been added – in Taman Sri Watan.
A total of 934 lots have been allocated, with Taman Melawati bazaar having the most at 128.
This is followed by bazaars at Padang Perbandaran MPAJ (114 lots) and Taman Sri Bayu (110 lots).
MPAJ president Dr Ani Ahmad said applications for temporary licences at the bazaars opened on Nov 4.
“We decided to start the process early as the fasting month is expected to start on March 12.
“As of Nov 20, we have received 659 applications,” she said at the full board meeting.
She added that balloting would be held online from Dec 2 to 10.
Those wanting to trade at locations other than the ones identified by MPAJ should apply via the e-Penjaja system.
Separately, Ani said a police report had been lodged over a fake approval letter bearing the municipal council’s letterhead.
The letter was in relation to a business licence approval.
“Investigations revealed that MPAJ’s old letterhead from 2016 was used.
“It also carried a non-existent file number and fake signature of an officer,” she said.
