THERE are plenty of watering holes in Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur, to cater to different tastes and needs.

However, the quintessential destination for cricket enthusiasts and sports lovers has to be The Sticky Wicket.

The walls of The Sticky Wicket are adorned with memorabilia honouring cricketing legends.

Each piece tells a story, adding to the immersive experience of watching live cricket matches while you enjoy your favourite draught beer or expertly crafted gin concoctions and signature cocktails.

Autographed cricket bats line the wall of the establishment, with the owner’s personal collection taking pride of place.

On the second floor, there are man-caves – two private rooms hosting big screen TVs to enjoy the game.

The bar’s speciality cocktails are ingeniously themed around cricket.

We sampled the All-Rounder’s Delight, which has an interesting blend of tequila, house-made syrup of pandan and gula Melaka, and a mix of citrus and vanilla extract, all artfully topped with kombucha.

We also tried The Big Six Blend, which is a cocktail that uses vodka, maraschino cherry liqueur, homemade berry liqueur, coffee and nut liquor, and calamansi juice, garnished with sugar powder and lime leaves.

If you are inclined towards sweeter cocktails, this is a good choice.

The beverage menu is crafted to elevate the sports viewing experience, especially for cricket enthusiasts.

Patrons can choose from a wide range of draught beers and spirits, where the bar’s selection of gin and whiskey caters to a variety of palates.

The food and snack menu offers a fusion of classic English pub fare and exotic Sri Lankan-inspired cuisine, peppered with cricketing references that add a touch of whimsical elements.

We particularly enjoyed Sachin’s Garlic Prawns, a dish paying tribute to the cricket legend that is Sachin Tendulkar.

The lightly pan-seared prawns had a right amount of spice infused with caramelised garlic and a hint of chilli flakes.

For a wholesome treat, the Pulled Beef Poutine is hearty and wholesome, featuring tender pulled beef brisket topping crispy chips, generously smothered in cheese and gravy, and crowned with a perfectly runny fried egg.

If you like lamb and sausages, The Sticky Wicket’s Bails are lamb sausage rolls encased in flaky pastry, seasoned with Jamaican jerk spices.

This is a nice snack to go with drinks.
