FOR La Salle School Brickfields in Kuala Lumpur, the 50th anniversary reunion for Class of ’73 is going to be a truly memorable event as some 100 old boys and several teachers are expected to attend.

Organiser and former student Godwin Chris, 65, said it was going to be an occasion full of nostalgia as it was the first gathering of students who had been at the school from 1965 to 1973.

“La Salle Brickfields, built in 1954, had classes only from Standard 1 to Form 3.

“For upper secondary, we had to move to other schools in Kuala Lumpur or Petaling Jaya.”

Chris said the reunion, themed “Blast from the Past”, would take place at Bukit Kiara Equestrian Resort, Kuala Lumpur on Dec 9, from 5pm to 11pm.

He had reached out to 160 alumni and so far, 83 had confirmed their attendance.

“Wanting to meet shows how much the Class of ’73 values contributions made by schoolteachers to their growth. It will be a wonderful moment for all,” he said.

He recently met up with ex-students Thomas Harris, Anthony Clement and Kenneth Sreedharan, all 65, and added that he was eager to reconnect with old school friends.

Harris said although there had been impromptu meet-ups with a few former school friends in the past, the 50th reunion was a planned gathering “to catch up with as many of our school buddies as possible”.

“It is a golden opportunity to meet up to share stories.

“We do have a WhatsApp group of former students but it is good to connect with more ex-school mates,” he said.

Harris said everyone loved to reminisce about the good old days.

“I hope our former school buddies can scan old photos of their school days and email them to us so that we can compile them into a beautiful presentation,” he added.

La Salle School Brickfields, now known as SMK La Salle Brickfields, was established by the De La Salle brothers in January 1954.

Old boys of La Salle Brickfields can scan and email old photos to gomez_chris@yahoo.com or call Chris (011-1893 8952) for details.
