THE Malaysia Chinese Assembly Hall (MCAH) will celebrate its 20th anniversary by hosting an award ceremony to recognise the contributions of outstanding Chinese individuals in various fields in Malaysia.

The Chinese Elite Dragon Award (Ceda) is set to take place at ICC Pudu in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 19 this year.

There are seven award categories including Outstanding Chinese Lifetime Achievement Excellence Award, Sports and Culture Hall of Fame Honours Award, Entrepreneur Excellence Award, Rising Star Award, Social Responsibility Leadership Award, Exemplar of Filial Gratitude Award and Community Leadership Excellence Award.

“These awards are meant to recognise leaders and community workers who help to strengthen the cohesion and unity of the Chinese community.

“We aim to encourage individuals and organisations to actively participate in charitable and social welfare activities,” said Ceda organising chairman and MCAH executive council member Liang Foo Kuan.

Liang said this would directly improve the living conditions of vulnerable groups and promote social equity and justice.

“This gala night will serve as an inspiration to everyone, motivating us to continue striving for positive change and progress in our society,” he said, adding that the award ceremony would benefit other races too.“Our mission is to spread the message that every Malaysian, regardless of their race, can contribute to the cause of social welfare for the betterment of society,” he said.

Chai said 250 to 300 Chinese leaders and entrepreneurs across Malaysia would attend the award ceremony, providing networking opportunities.

MCAH vice-president Datuk Alex Wong said this would be the time to honour individuals and organisations that did so much for our nation.
