TRAVEL time from Sibu Airport to the town centre will be reduced by 20 minutes once the Jalan Sibujaya-Jalan Kong Yit Khim project is completed by January next year.

“It will also connect Sibujaya with Sibu town and shorten travel time between the areas by 20 to 30 minutes.

“Once the road project is completed, more development can be expected in the area,” said state Infrastructure and Port Develop-ment Deputy Minister Aidel Lariwoo at the project site, adding that work was 77% completed.

He said there were minor problems involving settlements in Section 6 of Sibujaya but expressed confidence that the issues could be resolved so that the project can be completed on schedule.

The Sadong Jaya assemblyman said the project also involved building two bridges across Sungai Salim and Sungai Belalang.
