A GRADUATE from every longhouse family.

This is what Infrastructure Development and Sarawak Port Development Deputy Minister Datuk Majang Renggi wants for longhouse residents.

“If possible, every door of a longhouse should produce at least one graduate,” he said during the inauguration ceremony of the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) at Rumah Jelawat, Nanga Dap, Kanowit, Sarawak.

Renggi said this as he called on longhouse residents to prioritise their children’s education, even if they lived in remote rural areas.

He said that only with education would their standard of living improve.

Majang, who is Samalaju assemblyman, wants every community to continue moving forward in line with state government policy.

Majang also touched on how the state’s leadership drove development.

“Nowadays, we focus on technical and vocational education and training, which teaches valuable skills to drive the economy, and we have to generate income based on our resources.

“All Sarawakians should know these needs so we can change the pattern of our lives in the future,” he said.
