FAULTY street lights along several roads in Bandar Baru Bangi and Kajang, Selangor, will be upgraded by Nov 13.

Hulu Langat Public Works Department district engineer Mohd Zamri Mohamud said Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan had provided RM147,285 from his constituency allocation to improve lighting in selected areas.

The areas in Bandar Baru Bangi include three roundabouts, one in Section 7 and two in Section 15 as well as two roads – Jalan P1 and Jalan P1A.

Some lights would be repaired while others would be replaced with LED lights, said Mohd Zamri.

He said LED solar-type street lights were to be installed in Jalan Reko, Kajang.

“This will start on Sept 18 and go on for eight weeks,” he said at a press conference after witnessing Syahredzan handing over the tender acceptance letter for the projects to MN Power Services.

Mohd Zamri thanked Syahredzan for his contribution of RM19,995 for fence repairs at the Bandar Baru Bangi government quarters, which was completed on Sept 8.

Syahredzan said he would use the MP’s allocation to help constituents address basic infrastructure issues.

“I noticed that the fence was in a bad state during my visit to the Bandar Baru Bangi government quarters, so I did something about it.

“There are limited funds to help out 690,000 people in Bangi but I will try to do my best,” he said while encouraging residents to come forward and propose improvement works for their areas.

“The projects concerning street lights are based on residents’ needs.

“I have received many complaints on faulty street lights and have allocated quite a big sum to help brighten up the roads,” he added.
