THE long-awaited upgrading of a 300m stretch road in front of SMK SibuJaya in Sibu has finally been completed, much to the relief of concerned residents.

The RM194,000 project will provide greater convenience for nearby residents’ travel, eliminating the longstanding issue of flooding.

Sibu Rural District Council deputy chairman Wong Ching Yong had lobbied for the Sarawak government to upgrade the road.

He said prior to the commencement of the project, the road often experienced flooding during downpours.

“However, through relentless effort and meticulous planning, the upgrading project was successfully completed in the past four days, showcasing the efficiency of the Sarawak government’s execution.

“Now, whether it’s sunny or raining, residents can travel smoothly along this road without being hindered by flooding,” he said.

“This will not only enhance the travel experience of residents but also promote community development and prosperity,” added Wong.

He emphasised that the success of the project was the result of close cooperation between the government and the people, as well as a positive response to residents’ demands.

“This road upgrading project brings convenience to SMK SibuJaya and demonstrates the local government’s commitment to improving the quality of residents’ lives.” — By ANDY CHUA
