TO mark Omega’s 22nd year as title sponsor of the Omega Masters golf tournament, the Swiss watchmaker hosted a special celebration in Cry d’Er, Switzerland, complete with dramatic views across the alps and a special guest appearance from the brand’s ambassadors.

Stepping onto stage was Kim Tae-pyung – a Korean actor better known by his stage name Hyun Bin and renowned for his numerous roles in film and television, including a notable performance in the romantic drama Crash Landing on You.

He was joined by Kiko Mizuhara, actress, model and designer from Japan who has featured on multiple runways across the world.

Also welcomed were several friends of Omega, including model-turned-actress Louise Wong, and socialite and model Ayla Sham Yuet – both from Hong Kong.

With the mountains as their backdrop, Hyun Bin and Mizuhara spoke about their admiration for Switzerland and their love for Omega’s watches and heritage.

Hyun Bin said, “I spent time in Switzerland during the filming of Crash Landing on You, so I really feel a personal connection to this country.

“It’s wonderful to be back, especially with my friends at Omega. Their standards of style and precision are truly the best in the industry. It’s an honour for me to represent them.”

Mizuhara said, “Omega watches are always quite breathtaking, so it seems very appropriate to be up here in the mountains with such spectacular views.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time with the Omega family so far. The brand has such a rich variety of passions, so every moment together feels unique.”

Cry d’Er is situated at an altitude of 2,200m, providing a dramatic and memorable setting.

Omega enhanced the moment with a captivating Swiss theme complete with local flowers, alphorns and a fresco in the traditional Poya style.

Omega president and chief executive officer Raynald Aeschlimann said, “I’m always incredibly proud to welcome our international guests to Cry d’Er.

“Not only for Swiss hospitality, but also to share in our love of golf.

“With Hyun Bin and Mizuhara here, this year feels extra special. In my opinion, it’s been the perfect way to spend some quality time together.”

There was one more surprise for those who attended on the night when Omega brand ambassador Bastian Baker gave an exclusive performance.

The singer is one of Switzerland’s most well-known musicians, with a long list of successful albums and awards. His upbeat sounds provided an unforgettable conclusion to the evening’s celebration.

Played at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club between Aug 31 and Sept 3, the Omega Masters is one of Omega’s sporting highlights of the year.

Originally called the Swiss Open when it was first played in 1923, the high-altitude competition has remained at the same venue since 1939, making it the oldest golf tournament in Europe to be played on the same course every year.

Omega claimed the naming rights in 2001.
