Listen more and transform words into actions, party members told

ONE of the simplest reasons why politicians should talk less and do more is to create space for active listening and understanding, says an elected representative.

“Public servants who consistently engage in grandiloquent speeches often leave little room for meaningful conversations with their constituents,” said Bawang Assan SUPP chairman Robert Lau Hui Yew during a unity cruise with party members.

Calling on all members to embrace a more reserved approach to their public speeches, he encouraged them to dedicate more time to understanding the concerns, needs and aspirations of the people they represent.

Lau said that while effective communication was undeniably important in politics, the true mark of a successful politician laid in their ability to transform words into actions that benefitted the people they represented.

“By speaking less and doing more, politicians can demonstrate their commitment to meaningful change, build trust and credibility, address urgent issues, and inspire citizens to participate in the betterment of society,” he said.

The four-hour unity cruise saw the participation of over 100 SUPP members from Sibu’s five branches – Bawang Assan, Bukit Assek, Dudong, Nangka and Pelawan.
