A MAN’s creativity in transforming an old school bus into a sundry shop has not only given the vehicle a new life but also made it a crowd-puller at Kampung Tanjong Katong in Kota Baru, Kelantan.

Mohd Sofri Jusoh, 49, said the idea to convert the bus was mooted during a discussion with his brother Mohd Fauzi, 63, who is the vehicle’s owner.

“It was an old Ford school bus that could no longer be used and we didn’t want to leave it idle,” he said.

“With fresh touches of spray paint, it now has a different and unique look that draws people’s attention to our shop.”

In response to the positive response, Mohd Sofri plans to add more items to his shop and move the bus to a more strategic location near the village.

He said a few extra features had been added to the bus to provide comfort for customers.

“I installed two fans, two exhaust fans, windows and a flexible main door to provide good ventilation in the bus.

“I also did some refurbishment costing RM5,000.

“I think this makeover idea is a good way to save money on the cost of renting or building a new shop.

“It’s also a good platform for displaying our creative work to the public,” said Mohd Sofri, adding that he once turned down an RM18,000 offer for the bus. — Bernama
