MORE facilities will be added to the newly completed synthetic field in Permai Jaya, Sibu, according to Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.

The Sarawak Education, Innovation and Talent Development Deputy Minister said the field, which saw its soft opening recently, still lacked a dressing room and toilet facilities.

“I have allocated RM200,000 (for that purpose),” he said after officiating at the first match of Sibu League at the venue.

The Nangka assemblyman said more seats would also be installed in stages.

Annuar expressed his satisfaction with the community’s positive response to the soft launch of the synthetic field, which had seen bookings until the end of the month.

“This means our community’s response to this field is very encouraging.

“So far, it’s only a promotion, where the payment rate for the use of the field during the day is RM250 and at night is RM350, without referees,” he said.

He added that all bookings and payments for the field would soon be digitalised.

“I hope this synthetic field will be managed well and professionally by those in charge, so that it can benefit the community in Sibu,” said Annuar.

On the Sibu League tournament, he said 16 teams were competing, with matches scheduled until October.

It is the first event to be held at the synthetic field following its soft opening.
