MBSJ cracks down on illegal workshop in SS13

THE Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has raided an unlicensed workshop that had been operating illegally on state land in SS13, Subang Jaya.

"This vehicle repair and scrap metal business had been operating illegally for a few years. The matter was compounded by threats issued by the workshop owner against local residents and obstruction of public roads," said MBSJ's corporate and strategic management department in a statement on Tuesday (May 30).

"During the raid, the workshop owner was slapped with four notices to immediately demolish the structure.

"The notices were issued under Section 70 of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974, involving the offence of building structures or obstructions in public places without permission."

A number of vehicles and scrap metal workshop equipment and items were seized during the raid, including gas tanks, hydraulic jets, metal cutters, scrap metal materials, six vehicles and a truck head.

The joint operations involved personnel from several MBSJ departments, namely building and enforcement, as well as Bandar Sunway police station and Petaling District and Land Office.

"The Petaling District and Land Office will also take legal action against the workshop owner under Section 425 of the National Land Code for illegally occupying government land.

"MBSJ will continue carrying out periodic monitoring and strict action will be taken against any party or individual that is found to be violating council bylaws and regulations," it added.
