JOHOR Plantations Bhd, a subsidiary of Kulim (M) Bhd, has contributed RM50,000 post-flood relief assistance to aid communities in Johor.
Johor Plantations managing director Mohd Faris Adli Shukery said the donation was handed over to Waqaf An-Nur Corporation Bhd (WanCorp) for the Johor Disaster Relief Donation Fund.
“WanCorp was instrumental in mobilising its resources to help affected Johoreans and their families mitigate the impact of floods, through the provision of rescue and relief operations, food supplies, shelter and basic necessities for victims.
“It is now assisting in post-flood activities through clean-up efforts as well as fixing and restoring homes and repairing public infrastructure including schools and community centres,” he said in a statement.
He said floods remained a significant challenge for the people, and the devastation caused to property damage had resulted in many being displaced while facing losses.
“Our goal is to alleviate the affected families’ financial burden and provide support as they gradually recover from the flood impact.
“We hope that our contribution makes a meaningful difference in helping them get back on their feet,” said Mohd Faris.
The contribution was made during a dinner programme hosted by Johor Plantations at Persatuan Kebajikan Darul Hanan (Darul Hanan) for orphans and the less fortunate in Pasir Gudang.
Johor Plantations also donated RM5,000 to fund some of the orphanage’s activities and handed out duit raya to the children.
Apart from financial aid, the company provided three boats to be mobilised for rescue and flood support operations in areas affected by severe flooding.
The three estates are Pasir Panjang in Kota Tinggi, Mutiara in Kluang and Mungka in Segamat.
Two more boats will be given to Palong estate in Segamat and Sungai Tawing estate in Kluang.
The initiatives are part of Johor Plantations’ corporate social responsibility efforts to give back to society and enhance livelihoods of surrounding communities as well as its workers living in flood-prone areas.
