TWENTY years ago we bought a house in Taman Desa Melati (Phase 3), Nilai, Negri Sembilan.
It was a good quality house, affordably priced and we regarded it as an investment.
Now, we wish we had looked at other places.
The neighbourhood is overrun by stray dogs and the roads are not swept.
The appointed contractor cuts the grass but ignores other garden waste like fallen leaves.
Tall grass or lalang surrounds the playground which has not been maintained by the contractor.
I have complained several times to Seremban City Council (MBS) but to no avail.
Bushes border the residential area, attracting snakes and wild boars.
The area also seems to be home to abandoned cars.
Residents must file a complaint, which we do, otherwise the cars will be left there to rot.
I wonder if MBS enforcement teams can make regular visits to areas known for abandoned cars, without waiting for residents to make a complaint before taking action.
Right before entering the residential area, there are big buses and trailers parked illegally on road shoulders.
The road shoulders are not only damaged but also covered in filth discarded from heavy vehicles.
Compounds have been issued but it seems to be business as usual.
I have cried on the shoulders of the Nilai assemblyman. I guess I have to shed more tears.
