RAMADAN bazaar traders in Kulai are reminded to prioritise cleanliness at their respective stalls and play their part in the Johor Bersih initiative.
Kulai Municipal Council (MPKu) president Mohd Fahmi Salam said there were 18 Ramadan bazaars in the district involving some 600 traders.
Ramadan bazaars, he said, had been running well despite the rainy season, adding that the police had also assisted in monitoring traffic.
“We held a meeting with the traders, reminding them on the importance of maintaining good hygiene.
“Checks on cleanliness are being carried out at all bazaars,” said Mohd Fahmi when met after the MPKu full board meeting.
He reminded the people to heed Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi’s call to ensure the district remained clean under the Johor Bersih initiative.
“Kulai is unique as it has an international entry point (through the Senai International Airport),” he said.
“We play an important role in promoting Johor to visitors.
“I hope the public supports our efforts to keep the district clean,” he added.
Earlier in his speech, Mohd Fahmi said 44 gotong-royong programmes were carried out by MPKu between Jan 1 and Feb 28.
MPKu also carried out the Aedes Operation Survey, checked on 1,147 premises and fogged 5,448 premises, he highlighted.
“Dengue cases have been on the rise lately.
“We urge the people to play their part in the fight against dengue,” he added.
On another matter, Mohd Fahmi said MPKu obtained a five-star rating in an assessment for local governments nationwide.
“We received a score of 96.09% and emerged number 27 out of the 153 local councils.
“For the municipal council category, we received the best score in Johor and ranked 13 nationwide,” he said.
He thanked everyone for their hard work and hoped the recognition would motivate staff to further improve on services.
