Selangor government is giving away RM50,000 worth of prizes through its spend-and-win campaign during Ramadan.

Selangor industry and trade committee chairman Datuk Teng Chang Khim said Ramadan bazaar-goers who use the Wavpay ewallet would be eligible to take part.

“Visitors have to spend a minimum of RM10 to be in the running for prizes worth RM50,000.

“Prizes include an iPad, a motorcycle, digital watches, a television, a refrigerator, handphones and laptops,” he said at the launch of the Smart Raya Selangor initiative at Bangunan SSAAS in Shah Alam, Selangor.

He added that the lucky draw would take place at a different Ramadan bazaar each week.

The five selected bazaar locations are USJ 4 in Subang Jaya; Stadium Shah Alam in Shah Alam; Simpang Empat, Sungai Udang, Klang; Selayang Utama, Gombak and Section 18, Shah Alam.

Teng said the Smart Raya Selangor 2023 initiative was also aimed at encouraging the use of ewallets for cashless transactions.

Through this, the government hopes to get 500 new merchants to go cashless and 1,000 new ewallet users.

He said the main objective was to create a digitalisation culture in business, with a focus on three platforms – ewallets, online to offline and ecommerce.

Also present at the event were Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) E-commerce division assistant manager Ahmad Salman, Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal, Sidec chief executive officer Yong Kai Peng, Affin Bank SME-wide ancillary and transaction enterprise banking head Raymond Lee Wei Hwa and Wavpay Systems project coordinator Nur Syuhaida Jamalluddin.
