Japanese chef works with Ishinomaki fishermen to curate special menu

ISHINOMAKI Marche is a special, time-limited menu highlighting some of the best seafood from Japan, freshly caught off the waters of Ishinomaki.

The month-long collaboration with Fisherman Japan is happening at Sakana Japanese Dining, a premium casual Japanese restaurant at Suria KLCC in Kuala Lumpur.

Sakana is headed by chef Makoto Saito Sam who is also the owner- chef of established Japanese omakase restaurant Sushi Hibiki.

To highlight the specialities of Ishinomaki, a special menu has been curated by the chef together with Fisherman Japan – an innovative organisation led by young fishermen who are committed to creating a sustainable fishing industry for future generations in Japan.

The waters off the coast of Ishinomaki in the Miyagi prefecture, is considered to be one of the world’s most abundant fishing grounds, the other two being in Norway and Canada.

The menu will feature fresh seafood with traceability, such as Ishinomaki Oysters, Japanese Cod Fish and Chips and Mentaiko Sashimi.

Besides that, the menu will also include salmon catch from Onagawa, a neighbour of Ishinomaki, in the form of salmon sashimi, salmon nigiri and “Salmon Omega Roll for the Beauty”.

Prices start from RM12 onwards for mentaiko, RM21 onwards for sashimi and RM68+ for two pieces of oysters.

All of the dishes served at Sakana Japanese Dining are pork-free, lard-free, and prepared without alcohol seasoning for customers of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy.

Diners are invited to taste the treasures of Ishinomaki and discover how the blessings of nature and local fishing culture combine to produce some of the best seafood from Japan.

The promotion ends March 31.

Sakana Japanese Dining is located at G11, Ground Floor, Suria KLCC. It opens from 10am to 10pm daily.
