Taman Sri Muda residents are upset that a 3m-stretch of potholes in Jalan Damai 25/60 of Section 25, has not been repaired even after an accident is reported.

Food delivery rider Hashim Ashari, 23, said he fell after riding into a pothole and hurt his elbow.

“I lodged a complaint to Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) six months ago over the phone, but the stretch has not been resurfaced,” he said.

Trader Ibrahim Maju Naina, 63, said even his regular customers rarely noticed the potholes as they are filled with rainwater.

Taman Sri Muda 2 Residents Association chairman Mogan P. Thangvelu said last year’s December floods had worsened road conditions in the area.

“Our association submitted a report to MBSA but nothing has been repaired. In the meantime, the condition has worsened,” he said.

Mogan also pointed out the presence of wide potholes at Jalan Cerdas 25/46, Jalan Cermat 25/36, outside the entrance of SK Sri Muda 2, and Jalan Kemuning, Batu 8.

“I have noticed many potholes all over Taman Sri Muda and even drains with missing covers.

“This endangers the lives of both motorists and pedestrians.

“Residents worry the silt, sand and broken concrete slabs in Jalan Cermat 25/36 will obstruct water flow in the drain and lead to more floods,” he said.

“The drain covers outside the school must be repaired immediately since it is the rainy season now, said Mogan.”

When contacted, Shah Alam mayor Dr Nor Fuad Abdul Hamid said the damaged roads would be resurfaced and drains cleaned. — By EDWARD RAJENDRA
