WITH the formation of the new Pahang unity government and the assignment of portfolios for the exco members, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail hopes they can now do away with their differences.

He hoped that all exco members could set aside their political sentiments and ideological differences to work together as a team in ensuring that the state’s agendas for development and safeguarding the people’s welfare continued to be implemented properly.

“Carry out each given task with a sense of responsibility and trust so that the desire to make Pahang a developed state will be achieved.

“I hope the people of Pahang can also give their trust and support to the newly formed state government for the sake of stability and prosperity,” he added.

Wan Rosdy said it was now time to start a new chapter of mature politics and celebrate differences in an environment of racial and religious diversity so that everyone could continue living in peace and harmony.

He said this at the announcement of the portfolios for the state exco members in Pekan.

Wan Rosdy said he would be holding the planning, finance, land, natural resources, energy, water, economy development, plantations and commodities portfolios.

He said Datuk Seri Mohd Soffi Abd Razak would take on the agriculture, agro-based industry, biotechnology and education portfolios while Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad, would handle the Islamic religious affairs, rural development and Orang Asli affairs portfolios.

Datuk Mohammad Fakhruddin Mohd Ariff would hold the public works, transport and health portfolios with Razali Kassim assigned to Felda, cooperatives and entrepreneur affairs while Datuk Seri Johari Harun was given the local government, housing, environment and green technology portfolios.

Datuk Mohamad Nizar Mohamad Najib chairs the investment, industries, science, technology and innovation committee while Datuk Sabariah Saidan holds the social welfare, women and family development portfolios.

Fadzli Mohamad Kamal is now the chairman of the communications and multimedia, youth, sports and non-governmental organisations committee and Sim Chon Siang has the consumer affairs and human resources portfolios while Leong Yu Man is assigned unity, tourism and culture portfolios.

Wan Rosdy added that each exco member’s background, abilities and expertise had been taken into account when assigning their portfolios.
