Selangor wants to follow Melaka's lead and gazette heritage buildings

THE SELANGOR government will propose an enactment to gazette heritage buildings and sites in the state next year.

Selangor rural development, village traditions, Malay customs, culture and heritage committee chairman Borhan Aman Shah (pic) said the matter had to be referred to the Heritage Department.

"The papers are being prepared with the help of the legal department.

"We are seeking assistance from the Melaka government, which has a similar enactment on how to go about it," he said.

On the number of buildings and sites under consideration, he said there were many, including a fire station and police station in Kuala Kubu Baru, but some were no longer in their original state.
