THIS year, 742 schools were beneficiaries of the Selangor School Aid 2022 programme and received RM26.5mil.
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari presented RM12.5mil worth of aid to 501 schools at Dewan Jubli Perak in Shah Alam.
The latest recipients were 381 Islamic religious schools (RM11mil) and 120 national secondary and primary schools (RM1.5mil).
The school aid is an initiative by Selangor government to fund repairs and improve the infrastructure of government and private schools in the state.
Amirudin said the main focus of the initiative was to offer optimal comfort to students for a conducive learning environment.
“Our children will contribute to their families and nation,” he said while underscoring the urgent need to improve their learning spaces.
He said public religious schools, Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools, Chinese private secondary schools, mission schools and national schools were eligible to apply for the aid.
This year, Amirudin said, an additional 120 applications were accepted and the allocation was increased by RM1.5mil.
He said there were 381 applications from religious schools, 120 from national schools (primary and secondary), 113 from Chinese schools, 98 from Tamil schools, four from Chinese independent high schools and 26 applications from mission schools. — By AMIRAH CHE RAMLAN
