Charity drive back to benefit welfare homes in Klang Valley

AN annual drive to collect dry foodstuff and cash for welfare homes in the Klang Valley, returns for the third consecutive year.

The “Buggy of Joy” initiative is organised by Tropicana Foundation, the charity arm of Tropicana Corporation Bhd.

Tropicana Group managing director Dion Tan said the proceeds from the charity drive would be channelled to more than 15 charity homes across the Klang Valley.

He said Tropicana staff from more than 16 divisions had pledged to donate to the charity drive.

“Every year, we organise the Buggy of Joy charity drive to encourage the community to get involved and put a smile on the faces of those in need.

“This year, we started earlier in the hope of collecting more donations to help sustain these charity homes.

“The rising cost of living will affect the underprivileged even more, so every little bit helps make a difference,” said Tan, urging everyone to drop off their donations at Tropicana Gardens Mall.

The charity drive ends on Dec 15.

The drop-off point is near the customer service counter at the mall’s Centre Court, CC Floor.

Items sought for the homes include bulk dry goods (rice, oatmeal, noodles, biscuits, and pasta), beverages (milk powder, baby milk, chocolate beverage powder), halal canned food (sardines, baked beans), healthcare products (face masks, sanitisers, toothpaste, diapers, sanitary pads, adult diapers) and cooking essentials (cooking oil, salt, sugar).

The foundation also accepts cash donations via its CIMB Bank account number 8003575210.
