GE15: Candidate pledges to turn Hulu Selangor into sports hub

Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk T. Mohan from MIC promises to promote Hulu Selangor as a sports hub.

The 49-year-old, president of the Malaysian Indian Football Association, said he is a man of his word and would ensure that he delivers what he promised if elected.

“There is huge growth potential in this district especially in extreme sports, conventional sports and esports with vast land space and natural terrain like mountains, lakes and rivers.

“There are also more than a dozen football clubs here that are producing young aspiring footballers who may one day represent the country.

“There is also white-water rafting, tubing, kayaking, fishing, hiking trails, abseiling areas, zip-line activities, caving, extreme BMX bicycle trails and running trails.

“Cyclists and running enthusiasts from the city mostly come to Hulu Selangor as they make the journey from Kuala Kubu Baru to Fraser’s Hill.

“Hulu Selangor will make a great Sports Hub,’’ said Mohan, who is also MIC vice-president.

The father of four, who is the chairman of the Malaysian Indian Sports and Cultural Foundation and Malaysian Kabbadi Association vice-president, knows that the people here would benefit tremendously.

On Nov 16, Mohan showed his passion when he visited coaches, parents and children of the Black Eagles Football Club in Bandar Bukit Beruntung during their training session.

“I felt touched as parents were willing to send their kids late at night for training at a public field on soggy ground as it was too expensive to book a futsal court.

“This shows the parents' and children's determination in wanting to excel despite poor field conditions. And this is what sports is all about,’’ said Mohan.

Other candidates contesting for the Hulu Selangor seat are Dr Sathia Prakash (PH-PKR), Harumaini Omar (Pejuang), Mohd Hasnizan Harun (PN-PAS) and Haniza Mohamed Talha (PBM) and Azlinda Baroni (IND).
