UNITING youths through one of Malaysia’s favourite sports, Team Selangor and Football Association of Selangor (FAS) launched the first ever football clinic under Kinrara’s constituency to guide young talents.

Team Selangor chief secretariat Syahaizel Keman said Team Selangor mooted the idea after the two years of inactivity among the people due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Team Selangor had never ventured into sports events, but we had the idea of helping the community by creating a physical programme,” he said“We tried to organise a football clinic in Kuala Selangor last year on Dec 18, but then Selangor was hit by that big flood.

“The Kinrara’s football clinic currently has 30 participants.

“The registration is open to children aged seven to 17,” he added.

The clinic involves three certified assistant coaches from among the parents who underwent a coaching course.

Kinrara Football Clinic chairman and coach Mahfuzh Mohd Ayob said the committee planned to kick off the training programme on Nov 6 at the BK3 football field.

“Kinrara residents will be provided a registration link.

“The committee will include them in our official WhatsApp group to convey any information regarding the football clinic.

“Registration is always open and the programme will take place every week on Sundays,” he said during the launch of the Kinrara Football Clinic programme in Kinrara Golf Club, Puchong.

Selangor local government and public transport committee chairman Ng Sze Han, who officiated at the event, expressed hope that the programme would empower the community.

Describing the initiative, he said it was “from the community, for the community.”
