A PRIVATE specialist hospital has been certified for safety and quality in healthcare.

Management and Science University Medical Centre (MSUMC) recently received a four-year accreditation from Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH).

The certificate was presented in a ceremony by MSQH chief executive officer Prof Datuk Dr Abdul Rahim Abdullah to MSUMC founder and Management and Science University (MSU) president Prof Tan Sri Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid.

Also in attendance were MSUMC chief executive officer Zahri Abd Ghani and MSUMC medical director Prof Dr Badrisyah Idris as well as MSUMC staff.

Prof Mohd Shukri said the accreditation was the beginning of a journey for MSUMC to provide transformative future in healthcare and he envisioned the institution becoming one of the leading healthcare providers in Malaysia as well as Asia.

The first purpose-built hospital by a private university in Malaysia is a private specialist hospital with 250 beds and multiple specialist clinics.

The accreditation is a voluntary accreditation designed to improve healthcare quality in Malaysia by improving organisations’ performance and patient care.
