INDAH Water Konsortium (IWK) says that it is not the reason for Kepong Metropolitan Park lake pollution.
In a statement on Tuesday (Sept 27), the national sewerage company clarified that it did not discharge effluent from its sewerage treatment plant to the lake.

“The company adheres to the parameters of effluent quality discharge as set by the Department of Environment (DOE) for the quality of effluent discharged from treatment plants to receiving waters.
“IWK continues to maintain a strong performance in effluent compliance levels and regulatory standards,” the statement read.
On Monday (Sept 26), StarMetro reported Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim as disallowing any angling activities in the polluted lake until it was treated.
He was quoted as saying that an independent consultant engaged by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to test the water quality from mid June to July had reported contaminants that were up to ten times higher than what would be expected in a healthy lake.
On a sinkhole that appeared on Jalan Sungai near Jalan Sungai Pinang at about 4pm on Monday, IWK said an investigation found that it was caused by the damage to the main sewer pipe.
“IWK’s operations unit were deployed to the site to conduct immediate rectifications which include major flow diversion.
“Deep pipe repairs are on-going and planned for completion within two weeks, with other utilities constraints affected near the area.
“IWK would like to inform the public to take the necessary safety precautions when travelling near the barricaded site,” it said.
