ABOUT 80 golfers got together for the first President’s Cup tournament by the Johor Cultural and Sports Club (JCSC).
Club sports committee chairman Tonny Sarawanan said the turnout was encouraging and the participants were excited to engage in a round of golf after JCSC paused its activities for about two years due to Covid-19.
“Even though the weather was not favourable during the event at the Palm Resort Golf and Country Club, Senai, the participants including children managed to complete their 18-hole game.
“We have decided to hold the event every year,” he said.
Tonny said the club had also organised badminton and futsal events this year and would be holding a chess tournament on Oct 1.
The chess tournament is divided into three categories: primary school (under 12 years), secondary school (under 18 years) and adults (open category).
It will be held at the JCSC clubhouse in Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Johor Baru.
According to Tonny, JCSC, formerly the Johor Civil Service Club, was formed in 1920 and is the oldest club in the state..
