Puchong residents can expect smoother traffic flow once a connecting road is built from Jalan Bandar Puchong Jaya to Jalan Tiong.
Subang Jaya mayor Datuk Johary Anuar said the RM6mil road project was proposed to reduce traffic congestion in Bandar Puchong Jaya, especially during peak hours.
This was one of several projects raised during a Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) Budget 2023 town hall session held at the MBSJ multipurpose hall in USJ7, Subang Jaya, Selangor, which was attended by more than 300 participants comprising MBSJ representatives and stakeholders.
Johary said the council also hoped to expand its car-free day programme to more areas as part of its efforts to turn Subang Jaya into a low-carbon city for a cleaner and better environment.
The car-free day presently takes place along Jalan Kemajuan on the first Sunday of every month.
MBSJ also planned to implement some flood mitigation measures and prepare for the monsoon season ahead.
“The city council has used about RM1.16mil of its reserves to repair public facilities and provide humanitarian aid following the floods last December.
“To keep the city safe from unexpected disasters, MBSJ has proposed expanding its early flood warning system to more areas,” said Johary.
Also on the cards are projects to improve the existing drainage in Jalan Rotan, Lorong Bertam and its surroundings in Kampung Baru Batu 14, Puchong, at an estimated cost of RM1.78mil, as well as a RM1mil library upgrade in Bandar Puteri.
Johary urged the community to suggest projects that they think were necessary for their area, and to apply for the community grant from the council.
He added that MBSJ had set aside RM3mil a year for these grants.
Johary also shared with participants the council’s budget allocation for 2023 and urged stakeholders to provide feedback.
