NOW that Japan has relaxed its travel restrictions, a travel agency has arranged for charter flights to Hokkaido to enable tourists to enjoy winter in that region.

Apple Vacations and Malaysia Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding for the latter to provide six charter flights to Hokkaido.

For the airline’s signature “Charter Flight to Hokkaido” series – in its 11th year – 1,722 people will be making the trip in December.

Hokkaido in December promises powder-fine snow, natural hot spring, delicious seafood as well as breathtaking lakes and mountains in addition to shopping attractions.

Apple Vacations group managing director Datuk Seri Koh Yock Heng said in looking towards the post-pandemic era, charter flight travel packages would meet the needs of Malaysian travellers.

“Japan has always been the most popular travel destination for Malaysians, whether it is for the picturesque scenery of the four seasons or its unique culture, dining and shopping experiences,” he said.

Apple Vacations has 11 years of experience hosting non-stop charter flights to Hokkaido.

Departure dates are Dec 1, 6, 11, 16, 21 and 26, with 85% of seats having been sold so far.

After travel restrictions were lifted, Apple Vacations Sdn Bhd group executive chairman Datuk Seri Lee Ee Hoe led the company’s first tour group to Tokyo via Malaysia Airlines on Aug 20.

Between August and December, it is estimated that 5,000 travellers will be heading to Japan via Apple Vacations.
