KUALA Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is upgrading infrastructure in Jinjang Selatan and adding parking bays to back lanes.
Kepong Community Service Centre head Yee Poh Ping said residents had proposed to DBKL to increase parking in the area.
“The area has a lot of banks, eateries and other businesses and parking was always insufficient.
“Aside from upgrading Jalan Jambu Gajus, Jalan Jambu Mawar which is located at the neighbouring township will also be upgraded,” he said.
The project was expected to be completed by this month, he added.
Yee urged traders who set up stalls along these roads to relocate temporarily to enable upgrading works.
“I will monitor the progress,” he said during a press conference held at Jalan Jambu Gajus.
Also present were the area’s stakeholders and DBKL representatives.
A DBKL representative said the upgrading included beautifying Lorong Jambu Arang 1 and adding side parking bays to back lanes.
“The drainage on both sides of the road will also be upgraded in stages.
“Aside from addressing traffic woes and the lack of parking, we hope to curb flash floods in the area too,” he said. — By JAROD LIM
