Pasir Gudang draft plan to be finalised

Asman Shah says RTPG 2030 will be handed to the State Planning Committee once finalised.

Any concerns or objections submittted before July 8 to the Pasir Gudang Local Plan 2030 (RTPG 2030) will be brought up at the amendment and finalisation meeting between the city council and the Johor executive council next month.

Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG) mayor Datuk Asman Shah Abd Rahman said the meeting would be chaired by Johor housing and local government committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor.

“After that, RTPG 2030 will be handed over to the State Planning Committee (SPC) which is chaired by Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi for approval,” he said after the city council’s full board meeting.

Some of the planned developments under RTPG 2030 are the Pasir Gudang Urban Observatory, a new crocodile sanctuary in Kong Kong, improvements to 35 traditional villages, Seri Alam Education Park and a river beautification project that involves 20 rivers in Pasir Gudang.

Also included are plans to develop a river barrage in Sungai Johor, improving public transportation connectivity, and rejuvenating Taman Cendana, Taman Air Biru and Pekan Masai, besides the redevelopment of the Pasir Gudang race track.

The public were encouraged to submit their feedback on the draft plan from June 9 to July 8.

Details were made available at MBPG’s office at Menara Aqabah as well as online through the city council’s Facebook page.

The draft plan was also accessible at UTC Pasir Gudang, the Town and Country Planning Department (PLANMalaysia) Johor office, Iskandar Regional Development Authority (Irda) office and the Johor Baru Land office.

On a separate matter, Asman Shah shared that city council officials would be meeting with Johor Corp (JCorp) with regards to the handover process for a piece of land in Tanjung Langsat.

“I have visited the area following concerns from workers and industry players about the lack of parking space and road safety features such as adequate lighting besides poorly maintained public amenities.“We intend to take over the land, but we have to meet with JCorp first so that we can make improvements,” he said, adding that 90% of the land had been used.
