AN urban farm in Taman Mawar, Puchong that was cleared recently was illegal.
In a statement, Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) corporate and strategic management deputy director Azfarizal Abdul Rashid said the farm was located on the Sungai Klang river reserve and clearing works were carried out by the Petaling District and Land Office.
He said MBSJ was not involved in the farm-clearing works.
"The use of open spaces on river reserve land are subject to the Drainage and Irrigation Department, as well as the District and Land Office.
"MBSJ has always encouraged the involvement of the people in community gardening activities but it must be done with the approval of relevant agencies," he said.
He said the public can lodge complaints or raise their concerns on any matter via the Aduan Awam MBSJ application or call its command centre at 03-8024 7700.
