IN support of the King and Queen’s philanthropic initiatives, SkyWorld Development Group (SkyWorld) lent a helping hand through Al-Sultan Abdullah Foundation (YASA) to flood victims in Raub and Temerloh in Pahang, whose homes were damaged.
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah handed over the keys to the fully-sponsored YASA houses to seven recipients in both towns.
The houses took six months to build.
SkyWorld supported the initiative by donating RM70,000 cash as well as new furniture that included bed, mattress, kitchen cabinet, dining table and chairs.
Sultan Abdullah was accompanied by Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah for a tour of the houses.
The floods between late last year and early this year were among the worst in Malaysia, where properties in Raub and Temerloh were badly damaged.
Victims were left in dire situations while having to deal with the devastating aftermath.
SkyWorld founder and executive chairman Datuk Seri Ng Thien Phing hoped the families would not feel alone in facing their challenges.
He was there personally to deliver the furniture and handouts to the affected families.
“As part of SkyWorld’s commitments towards sustainable living and social responsibility, we want to create a cohesive living community at large by supporting and giving back to those in need, irrespective of age, race and religion,” he said.
SkyWorld pledged to uphold its purpose to make living better by encouraging better literacy and education, promoting better health and well-being, reducing poverty, improving community infrastructure and providing financial and support to those in need.
It is in the midst of establishing its own foundation to serve underprivileged communities.
“Being a community developer, SkyWorld aims to transform the city into a better place by providing a sustainable living experience, not only to the communities we operate in, but also to reach out to those in need,” added Ng.
