Retail chain’s central distribution centre in Klang goes green

The CDC has 25 inbound and 85 outbound bays.

SENHENG Electric (KL) Sdn Bhd’s newly launched Central Distribution Centre (CDC) in Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang, will adopt a green approach in its day-to-day operations.

Spanning 26,013sq m, the new building will use a paperless system which will also help the company meet growing demand from Malaysian consumers.

Its president and executive director Lim Kim Chieng said the Senheng app would be used to manage supply and customer orders.

“We started going paperless in 2015,” he said during the launch of the building in Jalan Astana 5/KU2.

The CDC now acts as a central hub that replenishes inventory across all their stores nationwide.

“Our sales are growing and the CDC, equipped with 25 inbound and 85 outbound bays, is able to handle RM10mil worth of goods coming in and out of the premises daily.

“We even purchased land adjacent to the CDC for future expansion,” he said, adding that the company aimed to upgrade 21 stores in Malaysia this year.

Senheng executive chairman Lim Kim Heng said the CDC optimised logistics and ensured order fulfilment capabilities.

“Our stores will consistently display the latest products from brand partners and generate positive brand awareness among customers,” he said.

During the launch, Senheng and 35 brand partners also contributed trees for the “Plant a Tree” ceremony as part of the company’s sustainability and environmental conservation efforts.

A lion dance was held to usher in good luck and prosperity for the new building before guests adjourned for a sumptuous dinner at the site.

Founded in 1989, Senheng has grown its retail network to 105 stores nationwide and is supported by various online retail platforms.

The company carries more than 280 consumer electrical and electronics brands ranging from digital gadgets to audiovisuals, home appliances and related products.
