GO sightseeing at selected tourist spots in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, capture the good times with your phone and stand a chance to win a RM30,000 tour package in the process.

This was the message by Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KLSCCCI) tourism industry committee chairman Gan Chooi Yang to shutterbugs at the launch of a photography competition which will run until Sept 30.

In urging contestants to do their best in capturing the essence and beauty of the 10 tourist spots selected for the event, Gan expressed hope that the competition would inspire more people to travel.

KLSCCCI president Datuk Ng Yih Pyng said the competition was aimed at reviving local tourism.

“I believe such activities will open up new opportunities for businesses as more people begin to travel and spend locally,” said Ng.

Selangor tourism, environment, green technology and Orang Asli affairs committee chairman Hee Loy Sian, who launched the contest at Wisma Chinese Chamber, Kuala Lumpur, revealed that RM1mil had been set aside by the state government to boost domestic tourism.

Some 35 programmes to promote and improve this sector had been approved.

This included the RM20,000 grant awarded to KLSCCCI to run the photography competition.

Competition organising chairman Datuk Ada Poon said contestants are required to post their entries on their Facebook pages with the hashtag #klsccciphoto.

The selected locations for this competition are Batu Caves in Gombak, Zoo Negara (Ulu Klang), Sunway Lagoon (Subang Jaya), Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque and i-City in Shah Alam, HL Dragonfruit Farm (Sepang), Sepang Gold Coast, Sekinchan, Kuala Kubu Baru Paragliding Park and Kuala Selangor Sky Mirror.

Also present at the launch were Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia secretary general Datuk Tan Tian Meng and Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Azrul Shah Mohamad. — By GRACE CHEN
