THE Johor-level Semarak Uniti Keluarga Malaysia programme held at Tanjung Emas Square in Muar will be used as a model to implement similar programmes at state and district levels nationwide.

National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique said the proposal was brought up in a meeting with the National Unity and Integration Department.

“I hope it can be implemented well,” she said when launching the programme.

Executive councillors holding the unity portfolio will head the Semarak Uniti Keluarga Malaysia committees in their respective states.

They will be joined by district officers as well as relevant departments and agencies, which will be coordinated by the National Unity and Integration Department director.

The programme aims to invigorate the spirit of unity, regardless of race or religion.

It was first held in Jempol, Negri Sembilan, on June 4. — Bernama
