Chance for special needs kids to enjoy the outdoors

AUTISTIC and special needs children can mingle while their parents establish their support group at the Asean Autistic Awareness Walk on July 3 at Penang City Park (formerly called Youth Park).

The 2km walk starts at 9am and is aimed at showing how important sports activities are for the mental and physical development of special needs children.

Organiser Raaj Ganesh, who grew up with an elder sister with Down Syndrome, said the event would also give parents of special children a good chance to connect.

He encouraged all joining the event to wear yellow shirts, adding that a custom-made cap would be given

The event is free for special needs children and their parents while other participants contribute RM50 each.

Community leaders and societies dedicated to helping children will be joining too.
