THE Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (Mosti) through its agency Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd, will continue its MyHackathon Programme this year.

Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said the 2022 edition would be launched next month and the ministry was looking at more innovations by startup companies in improving the government’s delivery system.

“We are aiming for more than 300 entries, including startups, local innovators and university students,” he said after launching the third edition of the MyStartup Roadshow tour series at Wisma Yeap Chor Ee in George Town.

During the event, Dr Adham witnessed the exchange of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Digital Penang and Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd.

The MOU is aimed at accelerating efforts in engaging and supporting startup initiatives in the northern region, especially Penang.

Through this partnership, Digital Penang will act as the strategic partner to support Cradle’s upcoming MyStartup Programmes for northern region startups comprising MyHackathon 2022, MyStartup Hackathon, MyStartup Pre-Accelerator, MyStartup Accelerator, MyStartup Internship and MyStartup Mentorship.

The event was organised by Mosti through Cradle.

The tour series will continue its momentum in creating an inclusive and conducive startup ecosystem.

Dr Adham said Mosti and Cradle would get the support of the community and technical partners such as Digital Penang, Invest Penang and Universiti Sains Malaysia, to further develop the state’s startup community.

“Through the inclusive approach, Mosti through Cradle as the implementing agency, is committed to go to the ground and explain the characteristics and announce the programme to other partners,” he said.

The programme’s participating startups will benefit from “money-can’t-buy” opportunities through guidance, training and the possibility of gaining matching funds.

Digital Penang, acting as the Penang representatives for Cradle, has engaged with more than 80 Penang-based startups of various stages in tech areas.

Launched in early 2022, MyStartup Programme consists of several programmes aimed at empowering the ecosystem and startup community in Malaysia, through content that focuses on the development and sustainable development of startups, as well as capacity-building and human capital.
